With over 30 years of field experience, Upali Ekanayake is one of Sri Lanka’s most respected ornithology and wildlife experts. Professionally trained in Terrestrial Ecology and Conservation in the UK, his background includes collaborating with institutions such as Cambridge and Aberdeen universities, serving as a National Consultant (Fauna) for IUCN Sri Lanka, and maintaining a Life Membership with the Ceylon Bird Club.
Upali has led specialist expeditions for premier international wildlife companies—including Naturetrek, Birdquest, and Limosa—guiding British and global nature enthusiasts across Sri Lanka’s key forest reserves.
